 The Fred Mugler Volunteer Appreciation Award honors the memory of an icon of Teton Valley and the Rocky Mountain West, Fred Mugler. Fred was the long-time proprietor of Mountaineering Outfitters, a “Cultural Hub of the Universe”. An engineer by training, Fred developed the famed Mugler system of inventory organization. Fred was the undisputed king of Dogpatch—Driggs, Idaho—and was always, in his quiet way, there to help with volunteer assistance for all manner of Teton Valley charitable endeavors. This Volunteer Appreciation Award, to be granted annually, recognizes the often quiet and always appreciated spirit of volunteerism that makes the Teton Regional Land Trust a community success.
2007 - Andy Steele
In 20067, the Land Trust recognized Andy Steele for generously giving many hours of his time for the benefit of conservation of agricultural and natural lands in the Upper Snake River Watershed. Andy has been integral in the Land Trust’s educational days in Teton Valley at Woods Creek Fen and Treasure Mountain. Andy’s youthful energy and creative knowledge always makes the station that he teaches at the events a favorite with both students and adults. Andy is also a participant with the Land Trust’s Outdoor Volunteer Group helping with several restoration projects a summer. Involved in several Valley nonprofits, he is one of those dependable volunteers who will always lend a hand to a variety of community causes. Thanks, Andy for being so generous with your time and talents.
2006 - Lynn Sandmann
In 2006, the Land Trust recognized Lynn Sandmann for generously giving many hours of her time for the benefit of conservation of agricultural and natural lands in the Upper Snake River Watershed. For several years, Lynn has been the “Taste of the Tetons” annual picnic beverages co-coordinator. Lynn is a participant with the Outdoor Volunteer Group helping with several restoration projects and educational days. She is also willing to sit in the office and help with the less glorious but important mailings and administrative work. She continues to be one of those dependable volunteers who are always lending a hand to a variety of community causes.
2005 - Kathy Stillman
In 2005, the Land Trust recognized Kathy Stillman for generously giving many hours of her time for the benefit of conservation of agricultural and natural lands in the Upper Snake River Watershed. For several years, Kathy was the “Taste of the Tetons” annual picnic coordinator, a huge job as this event testifies. Kathy continues to be one of those dependable volunteers who is often in the Land Trust office lending a hand.
