Woods Creek Fen is an 80-acre wetland property owned
by the Teton Regional Land Trust and managed as an outdoor classroom
for students and the community to learn more about fens and wetlands
in the region.
Woods
Creek Fen is a wetland fed by groundwater that has passed through
limestone rocks on the way down from the heights of the Tetons to
the valley floor. The chemistry of the water coupled with the amount
of water found on the site most of the year make it prime habitat
for wildlife and a place where many rare plants are found.
Students from local grade schools as well as Audubon groups, rare
plant societies and other community members gather at the fen to
enjoy wildlife, rare plants, spring
creeks and sump holes.
A small interpretive center consisting of two kiosks at the site.
This will be available for everyone to learn from and enjoy.
